10/29/11 Season Closer

This Saturday is the last game of the 2011 Sons of Thunder Season. It is our Halloween game, so come in costume if you are so inclined, a number of us will be in costume as well. The game will be played at Shiocton at our normal time. We have our Scheels caravan for those that don't know the way out. We had a great season this year and really enjoyed having everyone out to play. We look forward to seeing you all back out next year. We should have next years schedule decided and posted up by the end of February next year. SOT will also most likely making a trip or two to some of the local indoor fields over the winter. Those trips will be posted on the website and our facebook and twitter feeds, in case you would like to get some paintballing in over winter. If we plan any other public events over winter, those will also be posted. Again, it was a great season, and we hope to see you all next season. Thank you.

Now may the God of peace,

who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus,

that great Shepherd of the sheep,

equip you with everything good for doing his will,

and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ,

to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Grace be with you all.

Hebrews 13:20-21,25

09.17.11 Scenario

We'll try this one more time. This upcoming saturday is SOT's Annual Scenario Game. The gates open for people to show up on Saturday at 9:00am, however we will not begin anything until 9:30am; that is when we will go over rules, and run through chrono and team divisions. Gameplay will begin at 10:00am. Our Scheels meeting times are also adjusted, we will be meeting at Scheels from around 8:30 until 9am, that is when the caravan will leave for Shiocton.

The weather predictions for Saturday are currently quite nice, although a littly chilly; with a sunny day and highs in the 60's. Rain is predicted for Sunday and into next week, however we are hoping that those storms don't move up. The field is pretty nice right now though, so that is always a plus.

This years Scenario game is based on the struggle of oppressed Christians in the Peoples Rebublic of China. We hope that it will convey the situation of religious oppression, and reveal a bit about SOT to you as well. The game should be quite a bit of fun, and we hope to have a good turnout for it; but you can help by telling your friends and family about it and getting everyone you know out there.

We are also raffleing off the SOT A-5 this coming saturday, so if you haven't bought a ticket and would like to make sure you do on saturday; tickets are $5. You do not need to be present to win, but it'd be cooler if you were. We hope to see you out there, this saturday, and tell all your friends.

I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.

I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

When my enemies turn back, They shall fall and perish at Your presence.

For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.

You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked;

You have blotted out their name forever and ever.

O enemy, destructions are finished forever!

And you have destroyed cities; Even their memory has perished.

But the LORD shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.

He shall judge the world in righteousness, And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;

For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Psalm 9:1-10

09.03.11 Scenario

This coming Saturday is the Sons of Thunder' Annual Scenario Game at Shiocton. We are looking at some beautiful weather for this coming Saturday, with temperatures in the mid-70's and some partial cloud cover. With the dry weather we have had, the field in Shiocton has dryed nicely; there is still water in the ditches though, so plan accordingly if you want to run through them. The insects are not nearly as bad as they were earlier in the season, but they are still out and about, so be prepared for them.

A few logistical points should be noted for this upcoming scenario game. First off, we are beginning the game at 10:00am, that means that our normal meet times are adjusted. If you need to rent any gear, we have it available for rent at our standard prices. We will also be raffleing the SOT A-5 at this scenario game, tickets are only $5, so give it a shot, you never know.

We hope to see you all out there this coming saturday. We look forward to it and hope you do too.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life,

neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future,

nor any powers,

neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:37-39

08.06.11 Game

Thank you to everyone that came out to play on the 6th, it was quite a bit of fun. SOT has a few things that we would like to share with you. The weekend of August 20th we will not be hosting a game, the schedule showed a game at Shiocton for that weekend, however that is actually incorrect and has been changed accordingly. Just to be clear, There is No Game on August 20th. That means that Sept. 3rd will be our next game.

September 3rd will be the next game hosted by SOT. It will be at Shiocton, and it is our Scenario Game. It is an objective based game that runs all day that day with a storyline. Scenario games are a lot of fun to play as anyone that has played one can attest. If you haven't played before we welcome you to come out and see what the game plays like, as well as what we do. We will tease a little more information about the game as its date approaches.

SOT is also raffleing off a pretty sweet marker this year. It is a Tippmann A-5 that has been completely decked out with all the best upgrades. Here are a few pictures of the marker we are raffleing off, a breakdown of whats been put into it is below.

Raffle A-5 on the Rocks Raffle A-5 against a Tree

The A-5 has been completely updated and upgraded to be a very high end marker. Heres a breakdown of what went into the marker:

  • Omnipat Duracoat
  • X7 Low Profile Hopper
  • Stiffi 12" Carbon Fiber Barrel
  • Special Ops Paintball A5-A2 Commando Stock
  • Spec-Ops Wolf Hook
  • X7 Upgraded Valve Assembly
  • TechT Zero-Kick Hammer
  • TechT Squishy Paddles
  • TechT Vortex Mod
  • TechT Lightning Rod
  • TechT Q.E.P.H. (Not Installed)
  • RAP4 Aluminum Star Bolt
  • Tippmann Oversized Cyclone Fittings

All of the upgrades put into this marker make it a pricey but very nice marker. It shoots beautifully and is pretty much maxed out. The A-5 doesn't have a Response or E-Trigger in it, as that desicion is ultimately personal preference; however either could be used with this marker with relative ease. The A-5 is also capable of having an Air - Thru system run in it, however the fittings need to be plumbed for that. This marker is very nice and it would be a great marker to win. We are going to be raffleing it off at the end of the day at our Scenario. Tickets are still for sale, $5 a piece, and you do not have to be present to win; however if you are present at the scenario, and win, you get to take it home that day. Good luck to all those that have entered and enjoy the following eye candy of the marker.

07.23.11 Game

We are playing another game this coming saturday out at Shiocton. The field is fairly dry now, however there are still some wet areas. The current forecast is showing that we might get rain tomorrow, we are hoping that we don't. Also be prepared with bug spray as the mosquitos are out in force. We hope to see you out there.

With bitterness archers attacked him;

they shot at him with hostility.

But his bow remained steady,

his strong arms stayed limber,

because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob,

because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,

because of your father’s God, who helps you,

because of the Almighty, who blesses you

with blessings of the skies above,

blessings of the deep springs below,
